After a long year of suffering through the pandemic including online learning and many canceled social events, the student-athletes at Monte Vista Christian School were especially grateful when they received the green light for moving forward with a sports season. Many teams were in limbo and not sure whether they would have an official season. Thankfully, this private Christian School in the Bay Area was able to host successful seasons in almost all sports. The track and field team was ecstatic to be able to compete on the newly resurfaced track and renovated turf field. The team managed to finish the season as Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League champs. Team members set records in the high jump and 800 meters. One pole vaulter  shared, “I love the experience of soaring into the air, through the standards, and over the bar. It makes me feel like I’m getting that much closer to God.” Track and field wasn’t the only team to have a successful season on the newly renovated field and track. The lacrosse, soccer, and football teams were all able to enjoy initiating the field, bringing some joy into an otherwise difficult year. Thanks to an extensive fleet of buses, student-athletes taking part in this top athletics program come from Watsonville, Salinas, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, San Jose, and Santa Cruz.
